Milk Mentors is
a community project that I set up with two aspects:

1) to provide peer supporter training to parents passionate about helping others to breastfeed so that they might be able to work in their local community to provide breastfeeding support
2) to provide breastfeeding peer support services to parents in the local communities, including both one to one and group support
If you'd like to become a Milk Mentor
I run a training course twice a year that covers topics that include:

-
Communication skills/confidentiality
-
1-to-1 support/group settings
-
Ethics/Initiatives/WHO Code
-
Inclusivity
-
Physiology & anatomy of the mother and baby
-
Positioning & attachment
-
What to expect of ages and stages
-
How to recognise special circumstances and when to refer

There is no commitment to go on and provide support to other families, but should you want to, you would be supported in whatever capacity you felt you needed to do this. DBS checks and insurance are provided.

If you would like to know more and check out when we run our next course. Visit our Milk Mentors website.
